The Church would not function without a dedicated band of dozens of helpers. Not only that, but volunteering in a team for a short time or longer term is a great way of getting involved, and making friends along the way. If you would like to serve in some way do not hesitate to contact the Centre Manager Bob Manson.
Here are some examples of ways in which you can serve the Church:
 |
Stewarding
Welcoming people with a friendly face, showing them to a seat and providing answers to questions. This is such an important role especially when greeting people coming to the Church for the first time. |
 |
PA and Audio-Visual
This is vital for the Sunday services, and you can learn to operate the sound desk, the video camera and the multi-media presentations. You would also be able to help when the Centre is used for conferences, road shows and other events. |
 |
Worship Team
If you can sing or play a musical instrument or you want to develop your worship-leading skills, then why not consider being part of the worship team? This would involve fortnightly rehearsals and taking part at morning or evening services on two Sundays out of three. |
|
Children's and Youth Work
There are more than 30 leaders involved in helping lead both the Children's and Youth Work for the Church. You would be helping to provide exciting programmes for the various age groups involving crafts, worship, Bible teaching and fun and games. You would of course be required to complete a Criminal Record Bureau form. |
 |
Catering
Lunches are held at regular intervals for the Congregation as a whole, or for students or for families. |
Social Concern
As Christians part of our discipleship is to have a heart for and sacrificial commitment to the poor. This ministry is carried out in a number of ways, but the list below is not exhaustive, and if you have your own ideas for ways to reach out, then please contact John Selves:
Care for Carers |
An outreach to carers and the people they care for, consisting of lunch and entertainment while carers take a break if they wish. |
Saturday Outreach Lunches |
A meal and friendship for people who are homeless, sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation. |
Special Needs Outreach |
Bi-monthly events with a Biblical theme are held at the Centre for adults with learning difficulties. |
Signing for the Deaf |
Church members provide signing for deaf people during Sunday morning services. |
|
A charity providing a free service which forms a bridge between those who want to give time, money, things and skills and those who are in need. It ensures what is given is used effectively. Click here for the latest update from the Guildford Besom. |
