Rob May joined the staff at Millmead in September 2009 following 11 years as Senior Pastor at Horley Baptist Church. He is married to Lindsay and they have 3 children and 2 dogs. Rob was a PE Teacher in Suffolk for six years and now only dreams about a once great sporting past. He trained at Spurgeon's College in London and continues to serve there as an Associate Lecturer and Online Learning Tutor. He is a huge fan of The West Wing, reads a lot, really wants to improve his golf and quietly keeps an eye on Ipswich Town FC and the England rugby and cricket teams.
Lisa Edwards has been attending Guildford Baptist Church since 1975! She qualified as a primary school teacher in 1996 which coincidentally is the same year that she married Dave! Lisa has two daughters, Daisy and Isabelle (Izzy). When she's not being a Children's and Families' Worker, Teacher, or a Mum, she likes reading and going to the gym with her iPod.
Len Sheppard became an Elder in September 2011, having been part of the Church since moving to Guildford in 1989. He became a Christian at the age of 15 at a youth rally in Salisbury. He was brought up in Wiltshire, but after university moved to Bristol where he met and married Rose. They have two children, both married, and are now grandparents. He worked as a senior manager in the MOD until 2005 when he joined the GBC caretaking team until March 2011. He was one of GBC’s congregational leaders for 10 years and currently serves in both the prayer and relationships ministries in the church. He is a Street Angel and a volunteer Town Centre Chaplain. He enjoys walking, reading, kite flying and occasional mountain biking .
Martin Brunet became an Elder in January 2008, having been part of the Church here since moving to Guildford in 1997. He became a Christian at the age of 15, when an attempt to prove to his friends that he was a good agnostic led to him being bowled over by the Gospel for the first time. He is married to Clare and they have two children. He is a GP, working in Godalming, and is also a Governor of Holy Trinity C of E Junior School in Guildford, where he also runs the school chess club. He is passionate about art and loves to spend time improving his drawing and painting skills.
Brian Kirkpatrick and his wife Karen have been attending Guildford Baptist Church since 1995, shortly after moving to Godalming. Brian became an Elder in 2003, having previously served as Finance Deacon. Karen and Brian have two sons, both graduate students. In addition to his involvement with the Church, Brian is a governor of a local Christian school. He enjoys music, opera and travel. He is a chartered accountant and company treasurer.
Lance Redman has been a member of Guildford Baptist Church since 1985, was a founding member of Stoughton Congregation, and became an Elder in 2003. He initiated an informal football club that has been running for a number of years, and has also been part of a men's prayer and breakfast activity. As well as being a racquet sports fan, he is currently attempting to learn French. He is married to Therese and they have three daughters. Lance works for a firm of local accountants.
Ant Horton arrived in Guildford from Bromley in 2001 and has been in full-time youth work since 1995. He believes that young people become disciples of Jesus by being encouraged, mentored and having some fun along the way. He is married to Rachel and they have three young sons. In his spare time, such as it is, he plays some golf, and he loves coffee, Apple Mac computers and Christmas cake.
Peter Jackson came to Guildford in 1991, having previously served in ministry in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire for 11 years. Before that, he was a qualified teacher. He is married to Chris who works as a full-time volunteer for Powerpack, a children's charity, and they have three sons, all married, and eight grandchildren. He enjoys walking, swimming, the theatre, - and good food!
Ian Stackhouse arrived in April 2004 to become Pastoral Leader of Guildford Baptist Church, after previously being Senior Pastor at Kings Church Amersham for 11 years. He is married to Susanna and they have four boys, all of whom support Burnley Football Club. In his spare time Ian likes reading novels, writing poetry, walking in the Surrey Hills, watching movies, playing football with his boys and listening to Russian Orthodox music!
Tim Wears moved from Shoreham-by-Sea to Guildford in 1998 and has been attending Guldford Baptist Church ever since. In April 2008 he left work as a Chartered Engineer to take up a full-time pastoral role, with a particular focus on the missional life of the Church. Tim heads up one of the Church's worship teams and is involved with youth and young adults. He is also studying part-time for a degree in Theology at LST. Tim is married to Charlotte and they have two young children; he enjoys good food, good friends and quiet country pubs with real ale!
